The largest
Bahamian Island with the third
largest barrier reef in the world, it is best known for its many blue hole dive sites and over 100 miles
of healthy coral formations. Consisting mostly of forest and Mangrove swamps
inland, it houses many species of birds and wild orchids, and is also known
as the "Bone fishing Capital of the World" . It is the home of the mythical
legendary "chickcharnie" a half-man half-bird
creature said to inhabit the thick pine forest. |
